Hello Victor; APT was a very advanced software for its time, and when siemens picked up the TI PLCs it evolved it to early forms of PCS 7. So it would be easier to look for a path to PCS 7 than to straight Step 7 programs. You could start with this discussion with some of our TI 505 programmers members: https://support.industry.siemens.com/tf/ww/fr/posts/102590/ There was even a migration path for APT programs to PCS 7/505 developped by Siemens: http://www.automation.siemens.com/w2/efiles/pcs7/migration/PABR0007.pdf Unfortunately there is no information available today on whether this PCS 7/505 OS still is provided; you would need to contact Siemens Support (use the Support Request link at the top of this page). Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello Victor, The link from Daniel's post has good information and some clear input from Bill about the difficulties in migrating directly from APT to Step7. Beside these programming difficulties, replacement of all the hardware can be extremely costly. Another post in the thread from Carlo outlines active support and continuing development of the 505 system and APT from CTI and FasTrak. Many APT and 505 users have found that this support relieves their need for migration and allows them to use those resources for more pressing projects. Robert |
