Can't upload to PLCSIM

stevennoppe Posts: 65 Rating: (1)	I'm currently working on a project with a IM 151-8 CPU (with ethernet). I can upload and download to the PLC, but when I try to upload to PLCSIM I get an "Unable to reach the module IM 151-8 via the online interface. I clicked the button "simulation on/off", so that PLCSIM is loaded. What could be wrong? If simulation is on then every upload should directly go to PLCSIM, or not?

stevennoppe Posts: 65 Rating: (1)	I found the problem : You can only upload to PLCSIM if your PLC (in the hardware configuration) has a MDI or profibus port. If it's communicating through ethernet, then you cannot upload to PLCSIM. I had tocreate a new project with a CPU thathad a MDI or Profibus port. Maybe a good idea for Siemens to change this (bug?) in the next version of PLCSIM?

The MPI programming port dependency of PLCSIM has already been "fixed" with the releaseof PLCSIM V5.4 in late 2007 dear stevennoppe(what version are you using?). Current version is V5.4 SP3 andnow also allows running of multiple PLCSIM instances at the same time and (some forms of) PLC to PLC communications between them. I hope this helps
