Problem with connecting field PG M3 to S5 100U CPU

Hi experts

At work, our old simatic PG720 PII has got a keyboard error when its trying to boot, and I cant seem to fix it. Because of that, Im trying to connect a S5 PLC to our Simatic field PG M3, running Windows XP SP3 on a virual machine in VMWare. I installed STEP5 software, authorized it, but the PG is without the required TTY V24 port for communication. I have the 6es5734-2bd20 communication cable, and I have tried connecting the 25 pin connector to an RS-232 to USB converter, but I cant establish connection to the PLC. I have followed several guides on this great forum, but unfortunately without any luck. 

Im looking for help to connect the 25 pin correctly to Rx and Tx on a RS-232 connector so I can give it another try with the converter.

Secondly, would it help if I bought a regular 25 pin to USB converter?

At last, I have seen that you can buy a TTY to USB cable: https://www.process-informatik.de/9359-1.05M_pg-usb.html/?lang=en_ Would this work, you think?
