Wizard Diamond Member Joined: 4/24/2006 Last visit: 9/15/2025 Posts: 9027 Rating: (1199)	Dear Genious Brain, Let's imagine you have Step 7 v5.1 Then you have to purchase an upgrade license: 6ES7 810-4CC08-0YE5 You can install the software from delivered DVD. Then you start Automation License Manager. Put the USB stick in PC and go to Harddisk C:\ Here you find license Step 7 v5.1, select it. And then go to License->upgrade. The license Step 7 v5.1 will disappear and there will be a license Step 7 v5.4 Here is some link: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/19100818 Hope this helps. Best regards, Wizard

When you start Step 7 it will search for authorisation or it will work. The license key of Step 7 v5.1 may stay on PC, while installing the new version of Step 7. You only have to upgrade license, like mentioned before. Best regards, Wizard
