TIP: STEP 7 V19 - Access control for S7-1500 FW3.1

Denilson Pegaia Platinum Expert Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 9/10/2025 Posts: 4416 Rating: (1485)	Hi As from TIA V19, the security wizard has a different step for the S7-1500 FW3.1 controller: Access control. In this step it is possible to choose one of the three settings : Disable Access control - all users could access the PLC, no restriction to this access Enable Access control - the access to the PLC is defined centrally in the project (users and rights - see details below, in tips). Enable Access control / Use legacy access control via access rules - there is a PLC specific access control with local defined password. It is similar to the security wizard / settings for previous versions TIPs: This feature is valid for S7-1500 FW 3, other devices stay with the wizard as previous versions. Enable Access control / Use legacy access control via access rules is similar to the security wizard “Access level” for previous versions, however the security settings is fixed at “No access” level. To use Enable Access control, it is necessary to create a project user and set the respective roles to him. Steps to create a project user and set the respective roles to him: project tree, security settings, User and roles, roles tab: <add new role> project tree, security settings, User and roles, roles tab, intermediary window, tab Runtime rights: set the rules (e.g. full access) project tree, security settings, User and roles, user roles: <add new user>: add the user, define name, password and select the created role. The rules could be configured for all controllers in the project (selecting S7-1500 v3.1 on left) or individually (selecting the individual controller). As I cannot find any documentation I also have the following questions as this goes beyond simple access control to the PLC - Logon details for Webserver have also been moved to Role/User. Is this the only way to set this up now even if we disable access control on a V3.1 PLC? - OPC UA access and OPC UA user authentication have again moved to User/Role. Again is this the only way to setup on a V3.1 PLC? - Is there anyway to export/import users/Roles or do they have to be manually setup in each project and each individual PLC in the project? - Will these users/roles be created if we do an upload as a new station from a PLC? If Upload is now even possible? - There appears to be no way to connect a HMI to a FW3.1 PLC if using this new Role/User based security without turning on Legacy access or turning security off all together as otherwise you get a password error Dave

Strini Experienced Member Joined: 9/10/2012 Last visit: 8/19/2025 Posts: 68 Rating: (5)	Is it possible that one of these settings prevents a CPU 1512SP F-1 PN (6ES7 512-1SM03-0AB0 v3.0) to comunicate with an external Profinet device? If a test the same device with an older CPU, there are no problems at all.

registhf Member Joined: 9/26/2020 Last visit: 4/3/2025 Posts: 6 Rating: (2)	In the absence of clear documentation, while these things are still confusing, a great alternative is to use the "Change Device" option, select a V2.X firmware, and by doing this, it will be possible to activate the "Full Access" option again, as it was before. Then, simply revert to the V3.X firmware version, and the "Full Access" will remain selected.

We are trying to communicate S7-1500 (6ES7516-3AP03-0AB0) to KP400 (6AV6647-0AJ11-3AX1) using TIaportal V19 update 3 but unfortunately we cant! we are trying it for a week now. I did all the things below. - Create Certificate in Certificate Manager - Put password to Access Control for all. Full access, read access, hmi access. - use the HMI access password to HMI connection access pasword. - HMI is connected to same subnet of CPU x1p2. - i can download the both plc and hmi. - im getting this error in HMI after downloading the software $140021. The legitimation of connection HMI_Connection_1 failed. THe password is incorrect. (even though i input the same password in HMI access that i enter in CPU initally. - im getting this error in CPU - diagnostic buffer " Security event: Session authentication not successful SessionID 1568-37948 Summart message for 3 occurence during the last 20 sec PLC_1 Client address:192.168.0.3 <-----the HMI ip address Please help. we are delayed on this project. because of this .Thannks

It may improve other potential issues but doubt it will solve your specific problem. However, if it does, please let us know. braaay Is there any update on this thread? Did you download the hardware configuration to the PLC while offline? braaay I used same project, But I connect another HMI kp400comfort. It's works pretty well. I suspect that particular HMI model is not suitable for that CPU version 3.1. Is there any other way to communicate those equipment?
