If you have physical access to the source and destination PC, you could insert a USB stick into the source PC and, using the Automation License Manager (ALM), drag the license from the hard drive to the USB. Then, insert the USB into the destination PC and perform the reverse process, that is, drag the license from the USB to the hard drive of the destination PC. 2. If you do not have physical access to the source and destination PC, it would be advisable to perform an offline transfer of the license. In both cases it is necessary to use the ALM, so perhaps it would be interesting to first solve the problem why the ALM does not open. I would recommend trying to install the latest released version of the tool and then check: ALM V6.0 SP11 It would be interesting to temporarily disable the antivirus as well, just in case.

Attempting to move the files to another machine using simple file transfer will corrupt your licenses. However, it should be possible to move the disk from the broken PC to another PC where the Automation License Manager is running. There you should be able to transfer the licenses. Or you can create a support request for "Licensing / Authorization" to contact the license management support to clarify how to handle the problem. Kind regards Stefan

My pc no longer starts in safe mode. The license magager program does not want to start THANKS if PC resp. Windows is not running, then, I guess, you can't transfer the licences. If you can start your PC somehow then make sure to have the latest version of ALM installed, because also for service request this would be required. Latest version can be loaded from Handling programs for authorizing or licensing SIMATIC products. ( ALM, TIA Administrator, Authors). Regards, Frink

My pc no longer starts in safe mode. The license magager program does not want to start THANKS There is an option that has not been mentioned yet. Remove the harddisk (HDD / SSD) from the PC. Place the disk in a disk docking station or some enclosure that will make it possible for another PC to read the disk. Anything that would make the disk accessible via USB as a secondary disk. Access the hardisk from another PC that has ALM installed. Search for the license on the linked disk and transfer as you would from a USB drive. -- I have had Windows crash badly and did the steps above to move the license off the disk. It was possible to recover Windows in such a way that the step was not needed. But it is better to be overly cautious. Contacting Siemens, as stated before, remains a viable option.
