SCL - Any pointer on 6 bytes

I'm organizing an array of UDT (string+DT) and need the string characters as minimal as I can. I decided on 4 characters, which makes 4+2=6 bytes. Plus 8 bytes of DATE_AND_TIME, UDT=14 bytes. I'm calling the function from S7-GRAPH and tried to declare as TEMP and then STAT, but it wouldn't make any difference. Or from the structure of the pointer? Thanks in advance for your help! ;) There are some suggestions regarding you SCL source code,It is not possible to comment the whole task while all project is not available: Assign in SCL (:=) is valid for data types in width of accumulators , so for longer data types you should use SFC20.With "pointeur:=SOURCE; " , you only copy the 1st 10 bytes of a STRING varaibles to the pointer.For a copying data from a dynamic source to a dynamic target, please also check THIS thread from smiffy. While working on STRINGs in FCs, I suggest using ANY and store them in a global DB. I hope these comments help you! Hamid Hosseini

I can transfer a string with direct addressing (DB_.DBD_ := DB_.DBD_) but I still can't have the ANY pointer working. And if so, I guess I won't be able to use BLKMOV as well. And concerning this last function, is it possible to transfer UDT datas made of several types?

Dear Tech74, offcourse you can use the ANY pointer to transfer a UDT with multiple datatypes. But you have to concider how the source and destination areais constructed. Is it a UDT to UDT move and are both UDT's the same? Then just use MyUDT1 := MyUDT2 (MyUDT1 & MyUDT2are bothof datatype UDT_Test), length doesn't matter. Aredestination and source area constructed the same and are longer then the length ofthe accu? Then use BLKMOV andassemble theANY pointer according the address, length, mem area,anddatatype you wish to move. Datatype can be set to BYTE and specify how many bytes need to be moved. Tech74 I decided on 4 characters, which makes 4+2=6 bytes. Plus 8 bytes of DATE_AND_TIME, UDT=14 bytes. Considering this you can eitherset up the ANY pointer to move 14bytes from source to destination or you can do a UDT to UDT move (if both UDT are similar). #retval := BLKMOV(SRCBLK:=P#DBx.DBXy.z BYTE 14, DSTBLK=>P#DBx.DBXy.z BYTE 14); or UDT1 := UDT2; Like Huggy suggested, take a look at smiffy's post, his posts helped me with learning how the any pointers work, I'm sure they will help you too. Tech74 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Thanks a lot, Jens. UDT to UDT works fine! It makes the thing an awful lot easier!! You can transfer more than the capacity of the accumulator in one move, it's like magic. ;) It even works with arrays, e.g. : DB(number).UDT2[index] := DB(number).UDT1; (using the symbolic names of the UDTs)
