S7-300 and Wincc communication with MPI/Adapter?

ghost_dc Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Hello, I am having a nightmare of a timetrying to get a relatively easy system working. For my final year project I need to implement a PC controlled interface to control a PLC and then drive VSD's. I can get the PC transferring programs to the PLC, however I can not use Wincc to change values of tags or anything. First question is, is it possible to use the PC as HMI interface to control a S7-300 PLC using only a RS-232/MPI or USB/Adapter? Ethernet is not feasible, will i have to have a CP5611 card? My understanding is that I do, I just can convince my school that I need one. If you need any more info to help me let me know. Thanks.

It is going to be a nightmare getting my Uni to remove a service pack if that is the problem, wish I could convince my supervisor to get a CP card. For the time being I am working at home and trying to getPLCSIM to work with Wincc flexible 2008, I have managed to get the two interacting, however for some strange reason it only changes the values of the inputs and outputs when in STOP mode, any clues on why this would happen?

Sydney Hello, it isn't a problem in PLC program, it's just the wrong way of simulation... The PLCSIM works same way as the real PLC so each OB1 cycle is the process image updated, therefore the change from the wincc isn't permanent... You can simulate the inputs directly in the PLCSIM or if you still want to use the wincc, write the simulated values into the memory bits (or some DB) and as first in OB1 move the whole range intoinput memoryarea with SFC20. I found the SFC20 block but not 100% sure on what I should do.
