TP177A backup help

Simon Wales Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi after some help, i have a TP177A which i am trying to make a backup of to reload in to a spare TP177A. I am using ProSave V7.4..4.0 with the RS232/PPi Multi-master cable 6ES7 901-3CB30-0XA0 , conected to the laptop using a USB/RS232 adaptor. I have set the dip switches on the TP177A to enable the RS422/485 port and also set Serial connection in the trasnsfer seup. The Com1 port has been set to the same Baud rate as the pro save software and the RS232/PPI adaptor 57.6k, the software does a combatibality check and ok's that, then starts transferring 1 of 5 which is configuration data and that backs up ok , then starts transferring number 2 "File system" and whille doing this will stop the download and come up with a time out error in Pro Save. I am backing up a panel off an OEM machine, is it possible they can restricit people from creating a back up with in the software? Any ideas on what could be the issue would be much appreciated.

umencho Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 3/21/2006 Last visit: 10/16/2025 Posts: 10239 Rating: (1183)	Hello, You can use the following RS232/PPI Multi Master cables for downloading a project: Order Number: 6ES7901-3CB30-0XA0 The RS232/PPI Multi Master cable (with 8 DIP switches) can be used if DIP switch number 5 is set to PPI/freeport ("0"). The cable must be dead for it to accept the change. Look at How do you backup/restore with a Windows-based panel? (baud rate) best regards, Hristo Mihalev

Partial file 1: Operating system Partial file 2: File system Partial file 3: Settings ........................................ ......................................... The file system can is partially broken. Try OS Update. Then you to load the project. Then you will make backup. Attention: If you execute this function, then all data and licences installed on the device are irrevocably lost! Best regards.

Simon Wales Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	i would not have thought the file system is damaged as its a new pannel supplied by the machine manufacure pre programed and run perfectly, Is it possible when they have dreated the files to design the screen that they can lock you out from creating a back up?

Hello Simon Wales, No, It's not possible to lock the HMI in order to disable backup function. I think that the problem is in the connection. Please have a look on this FAQ to chose the suitable transfer option to you What transfer options are available in the various operator panels? Regards.
