Betel Posts: 1690 Rating: (584)	Hello, the LOGO!-0BA7 has a function "PI-Controller", but no function "PID-Controller". I have programmed a circuit witch build a "PID-Controller" for a LOGO!-0BA6 with an analoge output and with a PWM-output. The additional version for a LOGO!0BA5 has only an analoge output (because this series has no function "PWM"). With a separate circuit it is possible to add a PWM-output to this circuit too! please look at the attachment...Documents in german language, but you find a lot of information about PID-Controller over the internet. Betel the LOGO!-0BA7 has a function "PI-Controller", but no function "PID-Controller". PI suffices most practical cases and somehow D part is superfluous in conventional PID structure (3 elements in parallel).It is for sure because of memory and execution time consideration, they excluded that out. Betel The additional version for a LOGO!0BA5 has only an analoge output (because this series has no function "PWM"). With a separate circuit it is possible to add a PWM-output to this circuit too! please look at the attachment...Documents in german language, but you find a lot of information about PID-Controller over the internet. The main concern on PID switching controllers are the rising and falling edges of pulse trains should be controlled in sections of (Period/100) for one percent accuracy.Can you tell us about this accuracy in LOGO! as it really needs execution time on CPU.Inform us if the control quality with PWM is satisfactory compared to analog output. Betel Posts: 1690 Rating: (584)	Hello hdhosseini, please remember the properties of the LOGO! module. it is a relais controller with analog functions! a) of cause the circuit for a PID-controller needs more blocks as one PI-controller b) The block PI-controller of the LOGO! has a cyclic refresh time of the output of 0,5 s (slow in relation to a real SPS, I know) - my circuit of a PID-Controller has the same cyclic refresh time! c) The smalest time periode the LOGO! can handle is 0,01s (big in relation to a real SPS, I know). The consequence for this is, that PWM signals have a low resolution or a high cycle duration! Means: 1) If PWM cycle durationset to 0,5 s we get only 50 different steps and a resolution of 20 digits (in relation to the 1000 digits of the analog PID-controller output. 2) If PWM cycle durationset to10 s we get the hole1000 stepsand a resolution of1 digit (in relation to the 1000 digits of the analog PID-controller output. So we can´t have the relations you ask me, but on the other side this PWM signalsas output can used for some applications (e. g. for 230 VAC pumps in heating applications..). At last please look that i try to get solutions of aims byprogam the LOGO!. Some user ask me and i search for a solution with a LOGO!... Best regards Betel

I still have some questions: - If I understand correctly, when using this for cooling , It's ok to change V3 in SF014 from +1 to -1? - At what time do I set timer B012? How do I calculate this time? - Should the output of the PI part not go to the output continiously iso timewise (B012)? - I have changed the program to ladder, I don't think this matters? The Brewer Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hi Betel Thank you for the PID-controll. :-) We are trying to use it for brewing, but not very scussefully I'm afraid. We are a small brewers guild, and we want to control the mashing temperature in our 200 liters mashtun to be accurate within the 10th of a degree celious. The liquid (wort) is recirculated over 3 heating elements of 5000w each. This will raise the temperature 1 degree C pr minute, and have power enough to main tain the temp. The SSR's that control the elements are zero switching, and open/closes only when the AC pass the zero point, so the 0,5 second in the pid is very fine for us. Unfortunately we are not very skilled in german language, so we have a hard time to understand the writings. We got it implemented in our LOGO, but are very uncertain wich values to start with in tuning the PID circuit. Can you help? Thanks Lars looking forward to hear from you.
