Indirect addressing SCL- PIW[#MyAddr]

Mr Lindh Bronze Member Joined: 2/12/2011 Last visit: 6/3/2025 Posts: 115 Rating: (34)	Hello I am working with SCL and TIA portal (S7315 CPU) In the old step7 SCL it was possible to acess PIW data indirect by writing: MyWord:=PIW[#Addr]; Where Addr is an integer pointing out the address to read. I tried this in TIA portal but PIW is not accepted. Is there an other way of doing this now in the TIA portal? Seems there are many options for indirect addressing in V11 ProSP2. Maybe search the portal help for "indirect addressing" for the specifics of your application.

I succeded to make a old step7 program and migrate it to TIA portal: TIA portal converted my code into the following sýntax: #PIW_indirect:=IW(#Addr):P; The following other syntaxes work for IW, QW, DBW; QW(#Addr):P := 0; #My_IW:= IW(#Addr); QW(#Addr):=0; #My_DB_W:=WORD_TO_BLOCK_DB(#DB_No).DW(#Addr); PIW syntax was impossible to find in the help. See attached screen. Great! Please note to anyone reading this thread that not all those indirect addressing methods work for S7-1200 PLCs, specifically the word_to_block_db. You can search the forums for that phrase where I posted a generic scl code snippet to solve that problem for S7-1200s.

DAWIRY Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi Sorry for a late reply. I had to reinstall my OS and TIA on my laptop - that's not a quick task to do. I am using TIA version 11 SP2 update 5 The CPU is a 1214C (which is probably the issue?)

The problem: read the PIB( 272 ) value in SCL, via FB interface base addr. with IB():P and/or IW():P. With direct address (Line:2) result is OK, any others result always 0. Environment: Step7 v11.SP2 & CPU312, SCL FB. I/O base address is: 272. I can trigger exactly w. hw switch. Here's a short sample: [code] "tmp" := IW(#I_Addr):P; // BAD "tmp2" := "Tag_1":P; // OK (Tag_1 defined as: byte, %IB272) "tmp3" := IB(272):P; // BAD "tmp3" := IB(#I_Addr):P; // BAD "tmp4" := #I_Addr; // Result: 272 [/code] tmp as Word, #I_Addr as interface Input [int], tmp4:int, others are byte's. Thank for any suggestion.
