Dear All,

In one of our project, I need to communicate with 6 nos. of S7-1200 PLC (6ES7-212-1BE40-0XB0) from GE RX3i redundant system using PROFINET protocol. The S7-1200 PLC is used as Profinet IO device (slave) and GE PLC Profinet Controller (IC695PNC001) is used as Profinet IO Controller (master). Please refer attached architecture. Can someone confirm whether this architecture is valid or not? We are facing problem that the S7-1200 PLC are communicating with GE Primary PLC only and not communicating with secondary PLC. The S7-1200 PLC GSDML file doesn't have 'system redundancy' option. We are able to map the GSDML file to Primary GE PLC only and NOT able to map to Secondary GE PLC. So only Primary GE PLC is communicating with S7-1200 PLC. So now I have doubt on this Profinet Architecture.

Thanks for your reply. I couldn't understand what is "Shared Device" configuration and how to configure it? Is it something related to S7-1200 configuration? Please explain.

In GE hot-standby PLC, we are just importing the GSDML file of S7-1200 PLC. Now the GSDML file is not having the 'system redundancy' option so the S7-1200 PLC can be configured under GE primary PLC and it cannot be configured under GE secondary PLC. Is there any way to enable 'system redundancy' option in S7-1200 PLC? Please refer attached screenshot of GSDML file properties.

Hi,

I understand from your reply that 'Shared Device' option can be used to connect multiple Profinet controllers to same IO device. But in my case, the IO controllers are a redundant system. The GE Profinet controller expects that 'redundancy support' information should be available in the IO device (S7-1200) GSDML file then only the Primary hardware configuration (of Profinet IO device) can be duplicated to Secondary hardware configuration of GE redundant PLC. So my questions are as below:

1. Is it possible to get 'redundancy support' information in the S7-1200 GSDML file?

2. Is my architecture valid?

3. Suppose there are S7-400H redundant controllers connected to S7-1200 PLC through a ethernet switch. Is this valid architecture considering the protocol as PROFINET? Can S7-1200 PLC serve redundant controllers over Profinet?

Hi,

This is the exactly requirement what I need now to configure S7-1200 as i-device for PCS7 CPU 410-5H.

I have searching in a lot of documents and FAQ, so at the moment there are not possible to have S7 i-device serving redundancy function for redundancy controllers system.

Shared devices is a great idea, but I have to make sure if the first CPU is gone, second CPU still have connectivity to S7 i-device. Because as in STEP 7 HW-config. diagnostic data of Shared i-device is available only in one CPU.

If you have any  updated, please shared with me.
