I've always considered that stuff as a useless spam, but now it will be quite handy -- I am about to start a new project using S7-1200 and am wondering if I should wait for v11 before I begin.

I've already made one project with S7-1200 and am quite happy about it. If they release V11 and fix at least half of the bugs listed in this topic then it will indeed be a very good choice for small projects.

I prefer to these cases, the S7-200 , really is excellent and the soft programming (Microwin) is compact stable and very complete set of instructions. I think that TIA must be given time, only that...

Despite of above the S7-1200 is excellent at it's place with it's intergrated HMI.

Wulfgar Posts: 42 Rating: (3)	I'm debugging my first S7-1200 system now, after doing a 6 month S7-300 project. I'm glad it's a very small machine as this software needs a lot of work before I'd attempt to do a normal size machine with it. Seeing how this is version 10.5 and it's been over 18months without so much as a bug fix I'd hold off for a while. Maybe give them another 10 versions or 10 years at this rate to get their software ready for prime time. I would not want to have a production line or my job dependant on a S7-1200 system in it's current state. But that's just my opinion.

The first versions also haven't been that stable as STEP7 V5.5 now is. It surely will take some time to make expierences with it and to see what could be improved. But my opinion is, that the TIA Portal V10.5 is not that bad for a completly new developed software product.
