Handling programs for license keys:

• ALM (Automation License Manager)
  The ALM is the standard handling program for managing, transferring, testing and repairing license keys.
• TIA Administrator
  Different function modules can be incorporated in this web-based framework for administrative tasks for the TIA Portal. The basic package included here provides the functions for managing software and licenses including direct connection to the Online Software Delivery (OSD) services.

With the previous product versions authorizations were used to a certain extent. Authorization of SIMATIC Industry Software requires a red or yellow authorization disk. This disk might include an older version of the Windows handling program AuthorsW or the handling program AUTHORS (MS-DOS) for transferring the authorization. Later software packages install the version V2.4.2 or V2.5.2 of AuthorsW on the hard disk and register it in the system. In this case there is no handling program on the authorization disk.

The TIA Administrator with the version V1.0.2.2 and the Automation License Manager with the version V6.0.8 provide important security-related improvements.
