In this example a Huawei MU609 modem is used. I hope you can make use of this since many people are asking about 3G connection Best regards! Dear Sir, Thanks for your useful guideline.I need someone help to allow my IOT2040 go to internet without ethernet connection. I have follow to purchase Huawei MU609 for my Simatic IOT2040 modem. It can detect the modem by running dmesg \| grep modem. However, after i configured the modem configuration with the "apn list" provided username,pass, and Pin. It show me "bad request to google" when ping www.google.com. can you guide me how do i fix the issue? - tried ifup modem, show me the result (interface modem already configured) - attached picture was modem configuration. You can use Edimax make wifi dongle , same can be connected to IOT. In IOT setup give Wifi details and internet will work. Also for GSM connectivity , which network SIM Card are you using.Once give a try to PIng 8.8.8.8 Thanks & Regards Javed Akhtar

Only one of my problem is I just can ping to IP address such as 8.8.8.8 or xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, but I cannot ping to DNS name such as www.google.com. I need to add nameserver 8.8.8.8 in /etc/resolv.conf , then I can ping by DNS name and can send data to outside with DNS name.
