Mohanna Experienced Member Joined: 10/14/2011 Last visit: 3/27/2024 Posts: 38 Rating: (1)	Dear Expert we have PLC 417-4 unfortunately the battery was fault and we lost the main power this cause lost of user program , but after getting online with the PLC we saw all hardware configuration not missing , and when looking to Block folder there were only some block ,I think this build in blocks (SFC) the question is in case of losing both main power an backup battery is it possible for losing just user program and the hardware configuration still in place? PLease I need your support ASAP Best regards

PLease I need your support ASAP Best regards Hello, When there is no battery(ies) and in case of RAM external memory card, all user program and configuration will be lost in an un-buffered power cycle .In this case, you can see a list of SFC/SFB plus a system data with zero checksum .In case of using external Flash memory card, user data and configuration are transferred to CPU in case of un-buffered power cycle. Marcjan Platinum Expert Joined: 4/22/2010 Last visit: 10/17/2024 Posts: 5697 Rating: (715)	Hello, as per above the post some SFB SFC block lost beter to down load original backup In case of no batteries and no power you do not lose the SFB or SFC, these blocks are in the CPU firmware, in fact these are the only blocks you will see in an empty CPU. Mohanna Experienced Member Joined: 10/14/2011 Last visit: 3/27/2024 Posts: 38 Rating: (1)	Dear Experts, thank you very much for your respond may be it is good if I give a clear idea about our problem 1- Our PLC is 417-4XT05-0AB0 with MC SRAM 4MB 6ES7 952-1AM00-0AA0(THIS MEMORY CARD IS RAM AS IT IS SHOWING IN SIEMENS DATA SHEET(NOT FLASH) 2- PLC is used in PCS7 to control power turbine(user program done by PCS7 from Siemens ) 3- We don’t have PCS7 software but We have S7 software V5.4 only 4- We have the original user program backup in CD 5- The original backup have PLC properties write protection password (password is unknown for us) Trouble sequence 1-Already battery backup was faulty 2-main power supply lost Result 1- PLC go to stop mode Activates 2- Checking the plc by connecting S7 software and making upload from PLC to PG 3- The uploaded copy have the Hardware configuration but block folder don’t have any block 4- Make PLC memory reset as per Siemens procedure 5- Again Upload from plc to PG but the same result like first upload 6- Trying to download the original backup but when download start the software ask for Password My questions is 1-After I did memory reset how it is asking for password , “NOTE :my original copy showing there is writ protection password” 2-As we use RAM card (not flash) how the uploaded copy still having HW configuration 3-how can I download my original copy Please have a look to the image of our uploaded copy Regards Attachment HW and RAM.zip (385 Downloads)

hdhosseini Diamond Expert Joined: 1/28/2009 Last visit: 10/26/2024 Posts: 6852 Rating: (1365)	Hello, Just add some points regarding your question: Password is required while downloading if there is one in protection tab in properties of your CPU in HW.Config . About remaining system data in you CPU after power cycle with a faulty battery , I can not think of an explanation.In case of important machineries, you should use uninterruptable power supplies and changing batteries while receiving any alarms via system. To download a PCS 7 project, you should download the hardware and then user program via CFC editor.To find the exact version of software, check "ApiLog" folder in your project. I can not conclude from an image that a project was developed by PCS 7.Based on evidence, I guess this is not a complete/working project of your machine/plant.Just to verify this assumption arrange the elements in blocks folder to show the details and then check the symbolic name/name /author of FCs/FBs.CFC editor leaves some footprints after compiling the charts plus blocks from PCS 7 libraries are differentiated by their authors.Check and update, share an image of all elements if possible. Mohanna Experienced Member Joined: 10/14/2011 Last visit: 3/27/2024 Posts: 38 Rating: (1)	Dear hdhosseini, Problem solved thank you for your help, of course the attached image was not showing complete project because I opened just the single project of PLC not the multi project( ES,HMI,PLC) just after making memory reset for PLC by MRST switch I changed the original password in properties > protection window then doing save/compile in HW config window then selected station 400 and download , here the download asked for password , and after entering the new password the download start and completed without error , and after butting our PLC in RUN mode I sow all data become to normal in HMI and PLC become in normal running condition regards Mohanna Khallawi
