For example, the message you show (1 of 100) tells you a specific OB is missing, but does not identify it explicitely(diagnostic OBs perform special tasks for the CPU, such as collecting information on conditions that cause the CPU to go to STOP mode). However it does mention OB35 and FC50 as sources of the problem. Check these out. Normally, the next messages (2-3 of 100 in your case) wouldidentify thediagnostic OB required. Once you have this information, you should create an empty OB with the requested number ( right-click on the Blocks folder and create the OB) and dowload it to the cPU. Next time the error appears (the SF LED will light, but the CPU will not go to STOP) the diagnostic buffer will contain much more information on your problem. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

umair ahmed Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	basically the system im working in has 2 redundant CPUs. both had identical program and were functioning perfectly.so how without disturbing a CPU physically can a programming error originate init and as a result of it switches to STOP mode. regards

Which organization blocks do you need for error handling? If you have troubles to find why is that message in diagnostic buffer attach here a FC50. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 10/10/2024 Posts: 3024 Rating: (1054)	Hello umair ahmed your BCD conversion errror in FC 50 is most likely caused by either DB6.DBW4 and/or DB6.DBW6 containing an invalid BCD value. Either of these DW's is used as an S5 Timer TV Setpoint and MUST contain a valid S5 Time value in BCD format (if they don't you'll get the error you observe). Check what values these two variables contain and what is writing into them (possibly a HMI/SCADA system as the X-ref does not list any writes into these two DW's). Attached is a printout of the S7 help which details the format an S5 Time variable and I hope this helps (and please let us know what you find). fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 10/10/2024 Posts: 3024 Rating: (1054)	Hello umair ahmed your screendump shows the offline Initial values, check what the values in DB6 are online in the PLC when the problem occurs (there is nothing else in FC 50 that can cause a BCD error, well, at least I can't find another reason for it).

umair ahmed Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	if i assign a timer to an input field in my HMI, so what type of value will i be inputting online. will it be just a decimal value in minutes or will i follow the syntax S5 to input the value.and in what case will a BCD error originate, what if a inputvalue exceedsthe timer Preset value.
