Online adapter only shows "Teleservice"

0_Einstein Diamond Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 3/22/2023 Posts: 13201 Rating: (2147)	Manually configure your network adapters to free ip addresses in the same subnet as your PLC/HMI/etc. For example, I use 192.168.200.20 for plc and 192.168.200.80 for hmi, with PC set to something in range of 192.168.200.240-249. I set each adapter visible to the computer manually, starting at 192.168.200.240, incrementing by one until all adapters are manually configured. subnet mask set to 255.255.255.0 and gateway left blank If you can ping the PLC / HMI from the pc after that, you should be able to communicate via the portal. Last option is to delete the adapters from your device manager. Reboot and let windows reinstall the adapaters. See if you can communicate with the plc that way. If you have wifi enabled, disable it. If you have a corporate lan configured / connected, unplug it. You want tia portal to only attempt to communicate out the port with your plc / hmi connected. Sometimes windows directs the traffic to the wrong port and tia portal times out before trying another adapter. My tia portal shows 3 lan adapters - because of the way virtual pc/xp mode is set up. When I disable wifi, that lanadapter shows no connections. When I unplug my ethernet cable, I see what lan adapter shows no connections and that's the one I set manually for the proper settings. You can also try a restore point set back to a time when things may have communicated properly. You can also create a new local admin account and log in to that. It will create a new profile. Try connecting with that profile and see what happens. I have seen new profiles fix odd issues in the past.

I have seen it fix a few oddities in the past, most recently on my win7->virtual pc->xp mode->TIA Portal. Windows 7 only has the troubleshooting option, but not the repair option, so this doesn't apply for Windows Vista or Windows 7.

If you can ping the PLC / HMI from the pc after that, you should be able to communicate via the portal. I sure can, no problem at all. 1ms ping replies, but that's not the point. Like said in the start post my adapters are functioning just fine! Last option is to delete the adapters from your device manager. Reboot and let windows reinstall the adapaters. See if you can communicate with the plc that way. Makes it even worse! Now even more adapter under the section "Online adapters" show the questionmark symbol. If you have wifi enabled, disable it. If you have a corporate lan configured / connected, unplug it. You want tia portal to only attempt to communicate out the port with your plc / hmi connected. Sometimes windows directs the traffic to the wrong port and tia portal times out before trying another adapter. Without corporate lan I have no connection to my PLC, so that's not an option. Traffic routing only works if you have an adapter to communicate with in the first place...TIA only show me a Teleservice adapter. You can also try a restore point set back to a time when things may have communicated properly. Unfortunatly I don't have one that goes back so far and doesn't fail while restoring. I am better of formatting my computer and reinstall all software then to go back to a restore point and have to do everything all over. Both are no option. You can also create a new local admin account and log in to that. It will create a new profile. Try connecting with that profile and see what happens. That might just work! Will try it out once I am back at the office.

Since you are running windows 7, you can create a virtual PC and map the networking adapters as you wish. If you are using virtual PC, for your first LAN adapter, try every option available until your PLC becomes accessible to TIA Portal. I created a new virtual PC and gave it at least 3 GB of RAM. Anything less and the portal would crash often and alsorun out of memory very often. V11 crashes less often, but does lose performance quickly below 3 GB.

In my office I have several setups for testing purposes as my main job is being a technical product specialist for industrial automation products. The test setups are connected to the corporate lan via a local switch. I do use Windowx XP Mode, but not for software that is Windows 7 approved like TIA Portal. Again: my adapters work 1000% perfectly, I just can't select them in the TIA Portal software!! Being able to actually reach the PLC via ethernet is not the problem. When I connect a FieldPG to the same switch my normal computer is connected to, I can reach/programm the plc without a hitch!

Any ideas? I just received a fix for the installation problems regarding S7DOS, which is responsible for the online interfaces. Unfortunatly I reinstalled my whole computer so I can't test the registry fix. Attached to this post is the fix Siemens mailed to me. Below are the original instruction that go along with the attachement. Perhaps any of you can test it and post the results here in this topic? Comments from Siemens: Our suggested workaround is as follow: 1. Unpack the attached ZIP file. 2. Rename the .re_ file too .reg 2.1 Maybe the content of the REG-File have to be changed to your situation (e.g. D: instead of C:)! 3. Start the .reg file with double click 4. Start a repair installation of Step7 V11. Attachment S7DOS del reg if error 1605.zip (571 Downloads)

nnkhv2010 Posts: 3 Rating: (1)	Ihad the same problem, and I fixed it by manually editing register (regedt32.exe). My network adapter (in Virtual Mashine)had russian character in name ("Адаптер Intel 21140-Based... e.t.c."). I found in regedt32 all strings with "Адаптер Intel 21140" and replased it to "Intel 21140". After rebooting virtual mashine I set PG/PC interface to "new" network adapter, and TIA Portal 11 now connected with S7-1200 PLC by PN/IE interface. Natalia Ivanova P.S. excuse for my bad english:-)
