Replacing CP443-1 with older model

Import-User-1 Posts: 3609 Rating: (29)	Import of a Technical Question of the User baker.ajmal baker.ajmal Dear Sir, We have a new installation of PCS7 with 3 stand alone s7414-4h CPUs with CP443-1 (6GK7 443-1EX30-0XE0) configured. The vendor has supplied old version of CP443-1 (6GK7 443-1EX20-0XE0) as spare. Is there any compatibility issue if i replace the running CP (1EX30) module with spare one i have(1EX20),following any failure or trouble of running CP? Is there any steps to follow during this replacement? Is there any firmware upgrade is required during this replacement? Pittiplatsch Posts: 1368 Rating: (126)	Hello, The new CP 443-1 (6GK7 443-1EX30-0XE0) can be used as compatible replacement for the CP 443-1 (EX20), irrespective of the firmware version of the employed CPU, provided the software blocks AG_SSEND (FC53), AG_SRECV (FC63), TSEND (FB63), TRCV (FB64), TCON (FB65), TDISCON (FB66) are used. It is clear for me that there is no issues when you replace any obsolete model with succeeding models. My question was "is there any issue when you replace a succeeding model with an obsolete module. The installed one is the latestmodel(6GK7 443-1EX30-0XE0) andthespare i have is the old model (6GK7 443-1EX20-0XE0). Thank you in advance for your kind help. Best regards,Backer

Replacing new CPs (443-1EX30) by old CPs (443-1EX20) may be possible in the following case: If you don't want to use the enhanced functions modified in CP (443-1EX30) which are not provided in CP (443-1EX20). In this case, you have to put in HW configuration the old part number(443-1EX20) although you will install the new CP (443-1EX30). It should work with both types of CPs. Please note that I never faced this problem, So it’s not a guaranteed solution to configure CP 443-1EX20 in HW configuration and put in real life CP 443-1EX30 To know what enhanced function that Siemens provides with CP (443-1EX30), please refer to this manual: SIMATIC NET S7-400 - Industrial Ethernet CP 443-1 (EX30) Manual Manual Part B If you tested this suggestion, kindly inform us if it’s worked or not. Normally an easy change would be current module or the successor.I suggest checking services and function that both CP support (1EX20 , 1EX30 ).If they are similar, try change once by modifying HW Config/Netpro and see the result.

Normally for H-Systems, both racks should be the same even with same firmware. Please take care not toput CP 443-1EX20 in a rack and a CP 443-1EX30 in the other rack. Finally, please go through this thread it may help you. Replace CP443 cards

You are the customer. Refuse it and ask for the 443-1EX30. The 443-1EX20 is already discontinued. You may also miss the fact that you can install some one sided modules like FMs and CPs in H system (check appendix D in the same manual). This means both racks may have different hardware but the downloaded HW config. must be identical. Maybe I didn't express it clearly.So, i'll tell you my personal experience. In one of my projects I had H configuration with EX11 in both racks. Sadly, we lost one of the EX11 CPs. We installed the EX20 as a direct replacement to the faulty EX11. We had EX11 in Rack 0 and EX20 in rack 1 and it worked fine. The same case we have here forbaker.ajmal. H-H If the vendor has made the HW configuration with the EX20 and installed EX30, You can use the EX20 because it's already configured in the HW config as EX20. If the vendor used EX30 in HW config. then I don't think you can directly replace the EX30 with EX20. Best regards, H-H
