Communication issues with PC/PPI cable fpr S7-200

Hye all experts.

A brief of my issue.

I have PC/PPI cable for communicating S7-200.

I tested the communication with CPU 224XP, which is a simulator that I bought, and I can establish the communication.The setting of the comm port, baud rate etc are as per normal ( but licsl address is 3,bot sure why).Remote address is 2.

My laptop is using Win7 Ult, with Microwin 4.0  SP9.

However when I tried to communicate with CPU 226, I could not establish any communication even with the same setting as above.

Any advice?

Rhis is strange, or can the original programmer blocked the communication?

CPU has 2 ports, so you can try both ports to establish connection. BUT! There can be one situation when programmer can use both ports with Freeport communication (with some devices). In this case you can't establish communication, you must put PLC to STOP manualy. Then you can try establish communication with CPU (for upload/download). Monitoring in this case (both ports are reserved in RUN for communication) isn't enabled. Give info.

I have tried with Port 1 and 0 and the switch at Run.

But I havent tried at Stop.Can tou further explain tour nessage?

Can you explain the Freeport things,means I cant comm?

And monitoring is not enable? What does it means?

look, PLC may act as programmed communication device to other devices via both ports (Port0, Port1). If it's this situation (and maybe can be), when you want connect to PLC to do something (download new program/upload program from PLC), better is put PLC to STOP via that switch. If you put that switch to STOP, programmed communication release ports to normal operation (you can download new configuration/check errors in PLC,...). To avoid this situation, better is put switch to STOP. If you'll make new program and will put it to PLC next time without programing user communication (Freeport communication for ex.), then you can connect to your PLC also in RUN mode, because that ports will be not reserved for user communication. Freeport communication can be your user created communication to PC for example, via this you can sen/receive some frames to/from PC as you need. Monitoring is used via Online Status chart where you can monitor values of memory areas, physical inputs/outputs. Pls give you another example, when you have PLC taht has only one port (Port0) you can connect to that PLC only via this port. If your PLC has two ports, you have choice which to use. Hope give you relevant info.

Just to confirm few things:

1. When I switched to Stop and if I managed to get the program, will I be able to see the status when I switched back to Run?

2.Will the communication remain if i switched back to Run?

3.Is it possible for someone to block someone else from establishing the communication?

better will be starting study S7-200 system manual, try find it on forum or on web.

1. pls as I said in previous post, it depends if that program is using user communication on both ports. Example - if program use Port0 for communication with PC and Port1 is free, then you can use Pot1 for Online monitoring. Port0 is reserved in RUN for communication with PC.

2. same as before, if that port to which you're connected is reserved for communication, after putting to RUN you loose your connection with PLC.

3. don't understand question.

Update: pls in another time better will be using right termins, what is mean PLC is off?

I am not clear on your message.

Port 1 is used for HMI and Port 0 is not in used in Run mode.I connected my laptop to Port 0 but failed.

I also removed the HMI and tried to use Port 1, also failed to communicate.These were what I did first.

Following your adviced, I put the PLC in Stop Mode ( there are three mode,Run,Term,Stop).

I did the same, used Port 0 and also Port 1, both failed.

Comm Port,Baudrate were set correctly.

PCPPI cable should be in good condition as I managed to communicate with my CPU224XP at home.

I read in Siemens post as well, someone set the the transmissionand receiving rate to the lowest.Refer photo.Also failed 

I attached the photo for the switched which i set the PLC to Stop mode.

pls for first, I'm happy that I know after couple of posts that you have on Port1 attached some HMI device. If you wrote this before, maybe we save time. But to topic. How you know that you have right set communication settings? That ports can have different communication settings (speed,...). So first better will be make screenshot of your PG/PC interface settings, how they are looking. Give it to zip file and attach here. Everything goes from your message that you have connection with other S7-200 established. That next screen of PC communication Port settings is in this time unimportant. Pls if you can, make better photos, scrrens make via key PrtScreen and use some program like Paint to collect screens.
