What is the difference between fast archiving and slow archiving

panthripu Posts: 32 Rating: (0)	Hi I have some questions realted to winCC and i hope experts here will to get all my confusions cleared. Archive files are always stored so that they are local to the computer in the associated project. 1) What is the difference between fast archiving and slow archiving.I read the manual but still i am not clear. [schnippschnapp] other questions can be found in the following threads Can i simply copy past the saved files to some other folder now and retrive later on when required ?. While configuring the archive , what is the best way to configure them so that i may have trend for las onger time as possible. If I select active backup for tag logging and specify the location where i want the back up to be stored. How exactly it works. Attachment archive configuration.JPG (232 Downloads)

panthripu Posts: 32 Rating: (0)	For archive configuration , ificonfigure in followingway ; Time period of all segment :1 year Max. size of all segment:1200 MB Time period by one segment:1 month Maxi. size of a segment:100 MB Then I understand that when the 100MB is used or 1 month is gone( whatever comes first), a new segment will be created. Then in second buffer also if either of above two conditions are compleated ,the third segment will start.And so on..... 1 ) Does it mean that 12 segments will be created and once all 12 segments are full , segment1 will be started again overwriting old data and so on. Or segment change can be set based on time or month. 2) These datas are stored in archive folder with .LDF and .MDF ext. Right ? 3)Depending on the setting in archive contents , for example(if cyclic measure value with cycle less than or equal 1 min) will be saved in fast archive and rest in slow archive. Am i correct or i dont under stand it ? For back up configuration , we can activate backup and set some location to be saved.But how backup function is working.

Now it's easier for me to clear the open points with you. 1.TagLoggingFast, TagLoggingSlow (and AlarmArchive) are cyclic storage. this means the archive will be overwritten if it is full. I've found two helpful FAQ's for this. The first FAQ refers to another. Please take a look at both. The LDF and MDF-Files are both archives files and are absolutely important for WinCC. LDF means Layered Data Format File MDF means Media Disc Image File These extensions are nothing "Siemens special". Yes, please compare with the info, which you get in you define theconditions for TagLoggingFast_ All tag logging tags, that do not fulfill the above mentioned conditions will be archived in TagLoggingSlow. Concerning your Backup question, I suggested already in the thread, which is opened for you especially for this theme, that you should give me detailed information, which information you are still missing after reading the manual. There are only difference which cycle trigger you use. The default cyclic meas. valuesfor fast archivingis <= 1 minute. All tags that do not fulfill this condition will be archived in TagLogging Slow. See the parameters for "Archive Configuration" bookmark "Archive contents". Finally you can set size of two archives but you can not attach no importance. Best regards Jaromir
